*So… 2017*

Oh my, it’s been now three months I tell myself I’m going to write a new post and, as time passes, here we are already at the end of the year.

This last semester has been filled with projects and beautiful experiences. Let’s start with an educational point of view first. I had the chance to participate in the annual masterclasses of Ana Camelia Stefanescu and Zeno Popescu: Estate Belga 2017. This year, Sami Kustaloglu, a vocal coach from Berlin, was present as a guest teacher. After that, I flew to England where I attended a Strauss Workshop, organized by the Britten-Pears Young Artist Program. I had the chance to work with Angelika Kirchschlager, a wonderful mezzo soprano singer, and Malcolm Martineau, a brilliant pianist. More recently, I had the honor of meeting Karine Deshayes, great french mezzo as well, during a masterclass at La Monnaie. Each of these meetings have been very rewarding, both technically and on a human level.

In addition, I took part in several vocal projects. First, I played the role of Cecilio in an adaptation of Mozart’s Lucio Silla. It was staged by Judith Vindevogel and produced by her company, Walpurgis, in collaboration with La Monnaie. Then I sang at the Nuit Blanche of Brussels. The performance, Exile and Tyranny, explored very current themes of power, exile, and forgiveness, through mainly Baroque music mixed with electronic sounds. It was an emotional experience to sing these very strong words right next to the audience. Afterwards, I joined the Namur Chamber Choir for the first time, for Paradis Perdu by Théodore Dubois in Tourcoing, under the direction of Jean-Claude Malgloire. I also took part in the Bozar Sundays with my colleagues from the MM Academy where we interpreted melodies and arias from the French repertoire. This concert was staged by Benoît De Leersnyder who gave me a wonderful and exciting coaching. On top of that, it was a super cool to sing again with my friends.

Lately, I received the title of Laureate of the MMAcademy de la Monnaie. Needless to say that I walked on clouds for weeks after that… 🙂

Beside all these beautiful musical projects, I still had a bit of time on my own, especially to celebrate my 30 years, thanks to my wonderful family and my fantastic friends, and also to visit places like London (where I had never been before), Paris or Norway, from which I’m writing to you at this moment, peacefully, by the fireside 🙂

*To be Peaceful,

this is what I wish you for 2018, as well as

a lot of Happiness, Smiles and Colors*
